The women’s national curling team, better known by its nickname “Team Kim,” has placed second in the world championships, its best finish in history.

Korea on March 27 won the silver medal after losing 7-6 to winner Switzerland, led by captain Silvana Tirinzoni at the 2022 World Women’s Curling Championships of the World Curling Federation in Prince George, Canada.

Korea advanced to the tournament’s final for the first time and finished as runner-up, writing a new chapter in the nation’s curling history.

The previous high came in 2019, when Chuncheon City Hall’s “Team Minji” claimed the bronze medal in the world championships.

In Canada, Team Kim had a rough start as the Swiss took a three-point lead in the second end but applied pressure in the fifth with two scores.

Korea scored another in the ninth to tie the score at 6-6, but eventually lost 7-6 after Switzerland scored one in the 10th and final end.

The Swiss won the world title for a record third consecutive year since 2020 and went 14-0 in this year’s competition.
