Parliament’s workplace culture ‘just catching up’ to corporate Australia

Liberal candidate for Swan Kristy McSweeney says parliament is “just catching up” to where corporate Australia was ten years ago.

A review into federal parliament’s workplace culture, conducted by Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins, found that one in three people working in parliament had experienced sexual harassment there.

The report was released on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling the findings “appalling” and disturbing”.

“I think anybody who works in corporate Australia, sort of, 10 to 15 years ago can probably read some of these things and think ‘oh, that resonates with me’.”
