Not ‘ok’ for faith-based institutions to discriminate based on sexual orientation: Sharma

Liberal MP Dave Sharma says he doesn’t support the ability of faith-based institutions to discriminate against people based solely on their sexual orientation and gender identity.

“I support firstly the right of people of faith not to be discriminated against on the basis of their faith,” Mr Sharma said at the Sky News People’s Forum on Thursday.

“I also support the ability of faith-based institutions … to organise and conduct themselves on the basis of faith.

“But what I do not support … is the ability of faith-based institutions to discriminate against people solely on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity.”
