‘Little and Brave’: Tiny Clay Figures Give Russians a Way to Protest Invasion of Ukraine

Tiny figures made of yellow and blue clay or holding anti-war signs have started to appear across Russia as residents find ways to protest the invasion of Ukraine. Pictures and video posted by the Instagram page @malenkiy_piket show the figures, described by the page as “little and brave,” popping up all over Russia and beyond. Submissions to the page are usually anonymous and page admins ask users to either remove or hide the figures after taking a photo. @malenkiy_piket told Storyful that people make the figures to express their opinions. They said: “Many want to protest, but today it is dangerous.
