FBI Trump investigation part of Democrats’ ‘ongoing vendetta’

The FBI investigating Donald Trump for potential breaches of the Espionage Act is "the ongoing vendetta" of the Democratic Party against the former US president, Center of the American Experiment President John Hinderaker says.

The FBI seized 11 sets of classified information from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago property earlier this week, including some materials marked as "top secret/SCI", according to a search warrant.

The unsealed search warrant reveals the former US president is being investigated for possible violations of the Espionage Act, obstruction of justice and criminal handling of government records.

"The reason why they have to refer to the Espionage Act, which applies if you transfer classified information to an unauthorised person, is that the Presidential Records Act doesn't include any penalties," Mr Hinderaker said.

"They want to say that it's at least possible that some kind of a crime has been committed."
