China could ‘make life very uncomfortable for everybody’ by joining regional trade pact

Sky News contributor Graham Richardson says China could “make life very uncomfortable for everybody” if they were to join a regional trade pact.

It comes after China applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which Trade Minister Dan Tehan has described as the “gold standard regional trade agreement in the Indo-Pacific”.

“I’m never sure you even want them in the tent, you never know what they’re going to do,” Mr Richardson told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Unfortunately, under the leadership that they’ve got now they seem to have gotten more difficult not less difficult.”
