Ange Postecoglou says Celtic’s progress is limitless and warned they’re only going to get better.
The Hoops could go four points clear of title rivals Rangers at the top of the Premiership on Sunday if they beat Motherwell – before Gers face Hearts at Ibrox.
The resounding 3-0 Old Firm victory in midweek took Celtic above the champions and boss Postecoglou wants them to be even further ahead in the near future.
As he prepared for the trip to Fir Park, the Aussie said: “I’ve never thought about where I want us to be at this point or that point.
“But do I want us to be successful? Absolutely. Do I want us to have success this year? Absolutely.
“But if I start thinking about progress as we need to be at this level, at this time – and we get there earlier – that leaves me hanging a bit.
“Progression is a never ending thing for me.
“Are we better than what we were a few months ago in terms of how we’re playing? I think we are.
“And that gives me and the players encouragement that we can be further ahead in the next two or three months.
“My responsibility is now to push them on to the levels I know we can get to.”
While his initial aim is to dominate in Scotland, ultimately Postecoglou wants his team to be revered around the world.
He said: “I want people talking about this Celtic team – not just in Scotland but beyond.
“But we have to win trophies and be successful within that context.”
Being able to make loan players Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent signings will help.

But boss Postecoglou admitted: “Experiences like Wednesday will help but it usually comes down to the individual.
“I know Cam and Jota love representing this club.
“They’re contributing right now and that’s all I need to see. But it could be others.”
