Aldi kid’s toy subject to urgent recall over fears magnets could be broken off

Supermarket giant Aldi has issued an urgent recall for a popular kid’s block set with parts that can be detached and potentially pose a choking hazard.

The retailer has issued a recall notice for its Wooden Block Sets with JACK ‘N’ JILL packaging.

According to the recall notice, republished on Monday due to “the low number of returns”, the set was sold between June and September last year.

The defect relates to “small magnets ” that can be detached from the set.

“Small magnets may detach from the blocks, they pose a risk of choking, suffocation or death for young children.,” the recall states.

“If you have not already, customers should immediately stop use and return the product to your nearest ALDI store for a full refund.

“We apologise for any inconvenience.”

Consumers can return the product to any ALDI store for a full refund.
