It’s official, ugg boots are back in fashion.

No longer banished to the home, the early 2000s trend is back in a big way with celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner spotted wearing them over the northern hemisphere winter.

They’ve also taken off on TikTok too, with videos on how to style them with everything from activewear to workwear racking up millions of views.

Stylist Donny Galella told he wasn’t surprised to see uggs had surged in popularity.

“Right now in fashion all things Y2K are trending, so it’s perfect timing for the ugg to make its comeback,” he said.

“Dua Lipa, Kendall Jenner and Irina Shayk have all been spotted wearing them. They have been spotted wearing a cropped ‘Ultra Mini’ style rather than the longer style that was famous in Y2K.”

But even if you don’t plan on marking a sartorial statement with uggs this winter, slippers are still a necessary purchase once the temperature drops.

Kip&Co Slippers, THE ICONIC, $39

Be still my beating heart, if these aren’t the most optimism-inducing pair of slippers I’ve ever laid eyes on. Homewares lovers will most likely know Australian label, Kip&Co, by their bright and playful linen, and aesthetic that has clearly carried over to their crossover slippers. Clad entirely from plush fabrication and a number of delightful colours – I need this blue number in my life – it’s a no-brainer at its wallet-friendly price point.

There are several reasons why people choose to wear slippers at home. These include:

Comfort: Hard tiles and hardwood floors underfoot provide no support to bare feet. Slippers can offer cushioning between the pads of soles and unforgiving flooring.

Protection from cold and germs: It tuns out mother was right – bare feet on cold tiles can decrease blood circulation, leading to common health issues easily avoided by protecting your feet.
